STRESS-FREE ASANA:
REDUCING PAIN, INJURY AND STRUGGLE
INCREASING FLEXIBILITY, STABILITY AND EASE

Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
October 4, 2008
$100 plus $15 for a yoga prop that you will use and take home

Have you struggled with some asanas, only to be frustrated or confused? Do certain parts of your body just keep "hanging" on, not wanting to let go or stabilize? Does your body hurt?

Many of us have practiced yoga by forcing or pushing our bodies into postures past the limits of our own flexibility and strength. Instead of releasing us from stress, our practice creates stress in our bodies, hearts and minds. In this all day, hands-on workshop taught by MeriLynn and Rhonda Roehrich, Certified Personal Trainer and Yogini, you will acquire an understanding and experience of what is happening anatomically in your individual body and movements that will insure greater strength, flexibility, mindfulness, freedom and ease in your yoga practice.

Join us to open up and renew your understanding and experience of yoga!

Appropriate for all levels.

THE YOGA SUTRAS OF SRI PATANJALI: PADA TWO

3 Thursdays, 7:00 – 9:00 PM
November 6, 13 and 20

$65 before October 17
$75 after October 17

Following the success of our study of Pada One in the spring, I am happy to offer this requested opportunity to examine the second chapter of this important philosophical and practical foundational yogic text. In a clear and concise way, the Sutras define yoga and present why and how we practice. The teachings continue to be relevant and useful for those of us on the path in 2008. The sutras are divided into 4 sections or padas. In this workshop we will study and discuss the second pada, which deals with spiritual practice specifically. We will share challenges from our own lives in an attempt to discover the helpful relevance of this great work.

You may register for this workshop even if you did not attend the workshop on Pada One. However, it is highly recommended that you read through page 93 prior to this event.

Required reading: Inside the Yoga Sutras, by Reverend Jaganath Carrera

November 6: pages 96-117
November 13: pages 117-138
November 20: pages 138-161

YOGA RETREAT IN ST. JOHN, US VIRGIN ISLANDS
Saddhana, Satsang and Sun!

Saturday - Saturday
October 18 – 25th, 2008

Take a week out of your busy life to rest, renew and deepen your connection with your practice and yourself. On the beautiful Caribbean island of St. John, known for its spectacular beaches, coral reefs and preserved forests, we will come together in devotional connection and practice, to release what no longer serves us and to begin manifesting our most profound intentions. Guided by the study of the seven chakras, one each day, we will begin each morning with meditation, yoga and movement and gather each night for supportive spiritual community. Each afternoon will be free time to enjoy the offerings of the island as you choose, in quiet contemplation or activity.

The retreat will be held at Florian Villa and a second villa nearby. You can view photos of the villa at www.florianvilla.com. The cost of the retreat includes accommodations, all meals, guided hikes, airport pick-ups and drop-offs and a private session with MeriLynn. In addition, you will be responsible for your round-trip flights to St. Thomas. Yoga mats and props will be provided. Optional massage, kayaking, boating, fishing, snorkeling equipment, shopping, etc. are available at additional cost.

Your participation in this retreat helps others. For every 5 retreats, the owners of Florian Villa donate a free all-inclusive week at the villa to wounded veterans and families of fallen firefighters.

Workshop is limited to 10 people.

Cost (excluding airfare):
$2000 (per person, 2 people in room)
     $2800 (per person, private room)

$500 deposit due at registration, balance due 30 days prior to retreat.
